Child killed when train hits car in line for Christmas display

A child waiting in a line for a California Christmas display was reportedly killed when an Amtrak train struck his family’s vehicle on Tuesday night.

The youngster and three family members, including his mother, were in a minivan when the train hit them in central Fresno at about 5:30 p.m., KFSN reported.

The family was reportedly waiting to enter Christmas Tree Lane when their van got stuck on the tracks.

Authorities said the victim’s three family members were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

None of the passengers aboard the train were injured.

It was not immediately clear how the van became stuck on the tracks.
