John Wall hints at how hard James Harden has made it for Rockets

It didn’t take long for one teammate to respond to James Harden’s rant about the unfixable Rockets.

John Wall, who was acquired for Russell Westbrook this offseason, gave a hint at how challenging it has been for the team to come together.

“I think it’s been a little rocky, can’t lie about that,” Wall said. “I don’t think it’s been the best it could be, to be honest. That’s all I really could say.”

Wall did not specifically call out Harden, but the former MVP has been pushing for a trade out of Houston for months. Harden held out of training camp to start the season and was reportedly taking his frustration out on Rockets teammates at practice.

Harden spoke publicly for the first time about his desire to be dealt after Tuesday night’s 117-100 loss to the Lakers dropped the Rockets to 3-6.

“I love this city,” Harden said. “I mean, this situation is crazy. I’ve literally done everything I can. I don’t think it can be fixed.”

Wall is one part of a new cast around Harden this season, which also includes rising center Christian Wood. The Rockets were a perennial contender in Harden’s first eight years with the franchise. But after bouncing from Chris Paul to Westbrook to Wall as Harden’s co-star, the team may finally to face reality that it’s time to move on from the shooting guard.

“When you have certain guys in the mix that don’t want to buy in as one, it’s gonna be hard to do anything special as a basketball team…it hurts,” Wall said.
